Checkin at the airport was relatively quick and we were soon boarding our flight to Delhi. We were treated during the flight to a magnificent view of the Himalayas but unfortunately I was on the wrong side to get a photograph. No security at Delhi as we were on an internal flight so it was straight to baggage, collect cases and onwards to our bus. We have been on the bus for 90 mins in very heavy traffic and are only now leaving Delhi behind us.
On board our bus we have our tour director Richard who travelled from the UK with us, Abbie (short for an Impossible Indian name) our Indian guide, the driver Mr Ghan and his helper Sunil who has been serving us a packed lunch. We can have as much bottled water as we like but he has a little sideline selling cold drinks like Coke and beer. Guess what himself is washing his lunch down with right now?
Not a lot of interest out of the windows. Stopped at the motorway services, which was a very noisy experience. Outside this little girl was dancing. It's probably quite lucrative for the dad as I think most people on the bus gave some money.
Arrived at our hotel and it appears to be a haven in a filthy Agra. It is exactly what you'd expect of India.
Our guide reminded us that we will be going to see the Taj Mahal at 6:30 in the morning and that jackets at that time are advisable. Guess where my two jackets are, in the Wardrobe in the hotel in Amritsar. What an idiot I am.
